CoinDCX API trading bot: connecting a bot to your CoinDCX account

Updated 2 min read

CoinDCX offers an API, so software can place and manage futures orders on your CoinDCX account with a key you create. This guide covers what that key should allow, one thing that makes CoinDCX different from exchanges with a practice account, and how to start carefully. It uses Stralines as the example and is educational only.

What the CoinDCX API allows

An API key is a permission slip. With it, software can read your balance and positions and place or cancel orders. Your funds stay in your CoinDCX account. The software’s maker does not hold them.

Create the key without withdrawal access

In your CoinDCX account, open the API dashboard and create a key. A bot needs to read and to trade. It does not need to withdraw, so leave that off. Copy the secret directly into the platform you are connecting. If a key is ever exposed, delete it at CoinDCX; that cuts off access at once.

There is no practice account, so start small

Stralines connects to CoinDCX on live accounts only, because there is no practice environment to connect to. Every order is a real order.

Two ways to deal with that:

  1. Watch first. Follow a bot’s signals on the Watch List without placing orders, and read its rules in the marketplace.
  2. Start at the smallest size the exchange accepts and stay there until you have seen the bot enter, place its stop and exit.

If you want to rehearse with synthetic funds first, do it on an exchange that has a practice account, then move the same rules to CoinDCX.

Connecting on Stralines

Connect the key under Exchanges and choose a pre-built bot or bring your own rules from TradingView. CoinDCX is one of the nine exchanges Stralines supports. If it is not offered when you go to connect, ask support to open it for your account.

Stop-losses and limits

Ask any platform what it does when the exchange rejects or drops a stop order. Stralines checks each stop after placing it and scans open positions every two minutes to put back a missing one. That narrows the gap. It does not remove the risk of loss, and a stop can fill worse than its trigger price when the market moves fast.

Set your position size, leverage and daily loss limit before the first trade, and keep exchange fees and funding in the sums: Fees, funding and slippage.

Educational content only. Stralines is software for executing and managing your own trading rules, and is not affiliated with CoinDCX. Nothing here is investment advice, and trading carries risk of loss.
